Mental Health Association, 320 North Goodman Street, Rochester, NY, 14607

Pain is a common problem among older persons who are more likely to experience chronic medical conditions.  It is believed that more than 50% of the community, and another 80% residing in nursing homes suffer with chronic pain.  It is also known that a direct connection exists between chronic pain and emotional and mental wellbeing.

Attend this forum and learn about the ways that pain can affect the older adults you work and interact with.  Learn practical information you can apply as you work with individuals and families, and about resources and coping strategies that can help minimize the effects on mental health of older adults.

The presenter at this workshop will be Pam Heiple, NPP APRN-BC, Coordinator of the Psychiatric Consultation Service at Highland Hospital.  Instructor UR School of Nursing, Psychiatric NP Program.  Psychiatric Consultant to Highland Living Center.  Fairport Baptist Homes, MM Ewing Continuing Care Center.
