Mental Health Association Opening New Office in Ontario County

The MHA announces new site offering free mental health support services in Canandaigua

Canandaigua, NY February 13th, 2017 – The Mental Health Association of Rochester/Monroe Inc. announced the expansion of services into Ontario County that opened February 9th. The new office in Canandaigua will offer skill development workshops, support groups, and community education opportunities to support people facing mental health challenges. Services will be free to community members and don’t require insurance, formal diagnosis, or referral.

“We saw there was a need for services that supplement existing community resources,” says Patricia Woods, President and CEO of the Mental Health Association. “Opening this site was a great opportunity to make sure people in Ontario County have the support they need to stay on the path to mental wellness.”

Programming at the Mental Health Association is driven by the participants who develop their own individual strategies for mental health. “Workshops and groups are built on the needs of the people who walk in the door,” according to Wendy Webster, Program Coordinator for Ontario County. “Our model is built on mutual support and developing skills that promote long-term mental wellness.”

The new office will be located at 120 N. Main St. in Canandaigua and will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays. More information about the Mental Health Association’s Ontario County services can be found at mharochester.org/Ontario.
