In this engaging and practical session, Bowie Keaton will explore how therapeutic parenting strategies can help caregivers foster stronger, more authentic connections with their children. Drawing from both professional insight and lived experience, Bowie will guide attendees through approaches that honor a child’s emotional world, support trust-building, and encourage communication on their terms. Whether you’re a parent, educator, or mental health professional, this talk will offer tools to deepen your relationships and nurture resilience through connection. This event will invite you to participate in psychosomatic activities, please dress comfortably and be prepared for movement and other experiences.
About Bowie Keaton:
Bowie is a licensed social worker at The Counseling Center at JFS Rochester, where she provides trauma-informed, person-centered therapy to children and families. The Counseling Center welcomes everyone, regardless of age, race, faith, or circumstance. Bowie is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child-Centered Play Therapy, and is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Bowie’s integrative approach reflects her belief in meeting clients where they are—with empathy, flexibility, and creativity. Her practice is rooted in a strengths-based perspective and supports individuals across the lifespan with tools that promote healing and growth. Beyond her clinical work, Bowie has empowered youth as an OWL Lifespan Sex Education Facilitator and co-coach for Girls on the Run, helping middle school girls build confidence and communication skills.
